This is what I wanted a harp pic from the bottom for. As you can see, I didn’t find one.
It’s a very quick scribble - I think Homestuck just lends itself well to rough art you can jolt out without worries… I’m still not happy with the harp, though, so I guess I’ll just make a 3D harp model when I’m not feeling like my head is heavier than my neck can quite support :/ this pic has potential which needs to be better realized.
I have so many thoughts on the musical instruments the players find in the Denizen’s palace, guys. CHECK OUT ALL MY HEADCANON:
Headcanon 1: Karkat’s instrument was a harp. Why? Because he’d be tugging at strings. Get it? *bricked*
Headcanon 2: The instruments at the denizen’s palace reflect the player’s level. We saw a piano for Beta John at Typheus’ palace but it didn’t look very impressive, and that was probably because Beta John wasn’t very far up the echeladder at the time. For top-level players, though, they must look fucking epic and gigantic. And God-Tiered players? DAMN.
Headcanon 3: The compelling attraction the instrument exerts on a player is also proportional to their level. Beta John felt compelled to play, but held back in hopes of catching his denizen asleep (only to find him awake anyway). Now, if a high-level player were able to do the same, at the point in the game when the Denizen is actually asleep as he’s supposed to be, well… that’d be no challenge at all! So, the higher the level, the stronger the desire/compulsion to play, so that when the time comes, the player truly can’t help him/herself. It must be nearly a religious experience. (And since this song is supposed to heal the player’s Land, this ensures the land will be saved even if the player loses/dies, maybe?)
Headcanon 4: Troll Culture doesn’t seem to put much importance in musical production, and none of the trolls were implied to have an intrument, or to know how to play one at all. Still I’m sure that, when they found themselves standing in front of their respective instruments, they were able to play it perfectly and without issue. What if this technical knowledge is given by fraymotifs? This way, fraymotifs would allow you to use both advanced battle techniques and advanced musical techniques, just like the name says! Rather than just, you know, being a cute musically themed name for epic maneuvers.
Uuuh, I think that’s all for now. So sleepy…
Reblarging self because I feel like it
